🏅 2027 Local Prize Money Eligibility

Celebrating Our Local Running Community

To recognize and reward runners from the Tampa Bay area, the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association offers a Local Prize Purse for both the 15K and Half Marathon events.

🏠 Who Qualifies for Local Prize Money?

Only runners who meet the following full-time residency criteria are eligible:

• Must reside full-time (365 days a year) in one of the following Florida counties:

  • Hillsborough

  • Pinellas

  • Pasco

  • Polk

  • Hernando

  • Manatee

  • Sarasota

• Must have lived continuously in one of the above counties for at least one full year prior to Race Weekend 2027.

⚠️ Prize money will not be awarded until full-time residency is verified.

📋 Residency Verification Requirements

To qualify, runners must provide proof of continuous, year-round residence. Accepted forms of documentation include:

• Florida driver’s license

• Voter registration card

• Vehicle registration

• Proof of local employment

Note: This must be an actual place of residence — not just a mailing address or location used for document delivery.

🚫 Ineligible Participants

The following participants do not meet local residency requirements:

• College or graduate students who attend school in the Tampa Bay Area but have permanent residences elsewhere.

✅ Special Exceptions

• Active-duty military members stationed in the Tampa Bay Area but currently on assignment elsewhere do qualify for local prize money.

🌎 Citizenship Requirements

USA citizenship is NOT required.
Foreign nationals are eligible for local prize money if they meet all residency requirements listed above.
